No letting boards are permitted in the control areas during the period 1 October to 31 December (inclusive).

Enforcement action began on 17 October and appears to have got off to a good start. Jo Briggs, the City Council's Community Planner, reported in November that: 'So far, since the Direction came into force, 143 enforcement notices have been served on landlords and letting agents relating to the illegal display of letting boards within the Direction. Out of the 143 boards reported by CPOs and local residents, over 100 have been removed upon request, and instructions have been given to City Services to remove a further 22 boards. The remaining boards are mid-process.'

From 1 January 2013 restrictions on size, colour, the way in which boards are fixed, etc. will come into force.

In the meantime, residents are asked to continue reporting any boards that are still up either directly to the Council's Development Management section:
