ADDITIONAL LICENSING OF HMOs - CONTROVERSY CONTINUES

Following on from the decision by Nottingham City Council's Executive Board to accept the recommendation of a report that additional licensing of HMOs in a designated part of the City should be implemented (Additional Licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation in Nottingham), EMPO (East Midlands Property Owners) is seeking judicial review of that decision. The scheme is due to come into force on 1 January 2014 and will see licensing of all HMOs in the designated area where the City Council has identified that a significant proportion of this type of property are poorly managed.
