SANDFIELD CENTRE/COTTESMORE SCHOOL SITE TO BE SOLD BY NOTTINGHAM CITY COUNCIL

Speculation about the future of the former Sandfield Centre/Cottesmore School site began in March 2012 when it was announced that UK Regeneration, based in London, had chosen the site for a £30 million project to build 'Sandfield Village', a development of some 200 homes and apartments to rent with associated shops and bars (see Terms agreed for the sale of the 'Sandfield/Cottesmore School Site'Changing Lenton: A New Look for the Sandfield Site).

Earlier this year (2015) UK Regeneration submitted first an application to the Council for permission to demolish the site (Proposal to Demolish the Sandfield Centre), and then an outline planning application for a mixed use regeneration scheme comprising up 350 residential units, commercial floor space and associated roads, landscaping and public open space (Plans Unveiled for Redevelopment of the Sandfield Centre).

Community unrest about the future of the site has been further heightened by the news on Thursday 28 May that Nottingham City Council has now put the site up for sale by informal tender. The closing date for offers is 12.00 noon on 31 July 2015.
