October 2019

Quite a lot to report this month, but firstly a reminder - make sure you are registered to vote in time for the General Election, it’s easy to do online https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

Stealth, Wollaton Park

Many residents have complained to us about the Stealth event which took place on Wollaton Park. They were disturbed by the level of noise and particularly the bass. We took action during the event to ensure noise was being monitored and action was taken to reduce the impacts on the Sunday, including ending the event earlier than planned. We will continue to work with the relevant Council officers to minimise any disturbances in the future, there is no plan for a repeat event.

Ward Walk Dunkirk

The ward walk in Dunkirk identified a range of issues such as littering, bins on streets and fly tips which are being tackled by the local CPOs.

Middleton Boulevard

Residents will be glad to know that the faded “Keep Clear” boxes are planned to be repainted during November at our request.

We are planning a ward walk to look again at cycle path safety on Middleton Boulevard after continuing concerns were raised by the Residents Association.

Work has been taking place to help students settle into their new homes and fit into the community. The Council, Police, Community Protection, Student Unions and Off Campus Affairs have been working together to help spread messages about waste management, security and anti-social behaviour. Sally went out with a team of student volunteers to educate students about recycling in Lenton.

Lenton Green

The NCH Lenton Green estate has recently won a RIBA Award.  Sally went to meet with residents of Palmer Court early in the month to try to get to the bottom of their concerns about faults, repairs and local issues. Since then Nottingham City Homes have drawn up an action plan to tackle the problems and the other issues are being dealt with.

AJ Sports Lenton Abbey Park

We are grateful to AJ Sports for their work with our children during Half Term. We are working with the Parks Department to ensure that the “pitch” on Lenton Abbey Park is improved during the winter, ready for next spring.  We are also glad that AJ have been granted funding from the City Council Area Based Grant to continue to provide indoor activities through the winter at the Sheila Roper Centre.

Lenton Mural

Dave and Pavlos were in Lenton for the unveiling of a mural on Willoughby Street, which really brightens up the blocked up entrance to the old underpass.
