LENTON & WOLLATON EAST WARD NEWS
JANUARY 2020

It has been a busy month with plans coming together for the coming year.

Student Accommodation, Public Meeting. Scout Hut, Kenyon Road, Jubilee Campus, 7.00 pm, 17 February

We know many residents are concerned about the number of new large scale purpose built student accommodation blocks which are planned to be built around Derby Road, Radmarsh Road and Triumph Road. We have arranged a meeting  to hear from residents, to update people on the situation and how they can get involved. We hope you will come along.

Litter

We have requested several replacement or new litter bins across the ward. They should be delivered soon.

We are starting regular litter picks. We will be out on the first Wednesday morning of each month, and would be glad to hear from residents about where they think needs attention. We will be publicising future locations so that local people can come and join us.

Carbon Neutral Nottingham 2028

Sally brought the Notti Draft Carbon Neutral Action Plan to Full Council, Pavlos made a supporting speech. The draft plan is now out for consultation, please have a look and complete the survey. www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/cn2028

Abbey Lodge Residents’ Meeting

We attended a residents’ meeting at Abbey Lodge, when various issues were discussed. We have requested that the Council’s Antisocial Behaviour team work with the Management of the scheme to tackle long term issues.

Out In The Ward

On our ward walk in the northern part of Lenton Abbey, we asked for moss removal, spotted some graffiti and waste issues. We also looked at the condition of pavements.

Pavlos attended a street surgery in Lenton Manor and met residents who were happy with the work of the Council. He has raised a number of issues.

Bee Friendly Planting

We had a meeting with the Council’s Biodiversity Officer, who is developing a plan to make Nottingham a bee friendly city, in line with our manifesto. One of the key areas which is being looked at is the central reservation of the ring road. We have asked for the central reservation of Woodside Road and some other small areas to be considered.

Lenton Drives & Neighbours Residents' Association

The LDNRA are launching a Monthly Meet Up at the new Avocafe, next to the Savoy Cinema, from 11.00am to 1.00 pm on the first Saturday of each month.

Books for Nottingham Children

Several Councillors have been fundraising this month for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library which provides a book for many children in the City. Sally shook a bucket outside the Panto and read a story to 160 children, including at the Play Centre on University Campus and Edna G Olds Academy in the ward.
